I come to you having been involved with drumming for 40+ yrs. This includes formal training in school from elementary through high school and private instruction. As a performing musician and an instructor I understand the value of constantly working to improve one's personal skill level as well as increasing musicianship. I continue to seek instruction and attend seminars to aid me in my quest to offer a better product/service to those choosing to do business with me.
My professional experiences cover many years of performing with various groups ... genres include R&B, Blues, Smooth Jazz/Latin Jazz, Pop/Top 40, Rock n Roll and Hip Hop. I currently perform with a local Blues group, The Curtis King Band, providing a blend of "Hot Chicago style Blues mixed in with some southern foot stompin' grooves". I do sessions with other groups, enjoying being able to adapt to various styles of drumming to compliment various genres.
I recently toured internationally with Diunna Greenleaf and Blue Mercy; being the proud winners of a 2008 Blues Music Award for Best New Artist in Traditional Blues, where I gained an enormous amount of international exposure and multi-cultural playing experience. I've performed and been in sessions with a multitude of the Best Blues talent from around the world ... allowing me a very broad perspective on music and how it affects those who listen to it.
As an instructor I believe the most important instruction is the very basic, novice and intermediate levels of training. Building a solid foundation in the basic rudimentary aspects of drumming and music theory prepare the individual for future progress. Proper instruction eliminates time wasted developing counterproductive habits; thus allowing the student to focus on learning vs. fixing poor mechanics.
A high percentage of my business is from repeat customers and referrals, as a result, I am committed to meeting the needs of those whose choose to utilize my service.
